What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is hypnosis utilised in a therapeutic way. Hypnosis is a state of mind and all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Your hypnotist cannot do anything to you without your permission, hypnotherapy is a two way thing. To be successful the subject has to enter into the spirit of hypnosis and a good hypnotist instructs their subject how to make hypnosis effective.
During hypnosis the physical eyes are either closed or defocused and focus is turned inward. Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused inner attention. It is not sleep and despite what you may have seen on TV or a stage show the hypnotised subject knows at all times what is happening.
Hypnosis is a completely natural state that everyone dips into many times a day and one that every human being is already familiar with whether they have been hypnotised or not. For instance, the dreamy state everyone is in prior to sleep is the hypnogogic state and the dreamy morning state the hypnopompic state.
If you are a driver you will also be familiar with the state called highway hypnosis. While driving in this state your eyes are glazed over and you are inwardly focused or in other words, thinking about something completley differnet to driving. You could describe this state as being ‘miles away’ and whenever you or someone else is ‘miles away’ they are in a hypnotic state.
In this ‘miles away‘ state the mind is highly receptive and suggestable and suggestions can be given by a skilled hypnotherapist that can make deep and lasting changes occur within minutes. Hypnosis is the ideal tool to use for stop smoking therapy and we help people to quit smoking with ease at Chichester Stop Smoking Clinic.

Testimonial:
Your hypnotherapy together with the powers of positive thinking has & still is helping me through an extremely difficult time in my life.
To recap my husband who I have been married to for 37 yrs & love dearly, has been my life & my best friend, was diagnosed with cancer 3 1/2yrs ago & has now only weeks to live. Having consulted you approx 2yrs ago & also receiving your newsletters has made me a stronger person being able to pull on all my reserve to cope with an enormously emotional period of my life, whilst giving support to my family who are also struggling with the situation,
Thanks to your help I know I will move forward & at 60 yrs of age still have a life in front of me that will be meaningful & hopefully happy as I have a great family & true friends who have been amazingly supportive but most of all I have the mind set to get me through.
Kind regards,
Angela Allen
